Edith A Voss, age 88 of Huron, SD, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her Funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Friday, March 23, 2018 at the American Lutheran Church in Huron with burial at the Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation with the family present will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, with a prayer service to begin at 6:30 PM, at the Welter Funeral Home; or visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Edith A. Eckmann, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Beck) Eckmann, was born on December 11, 1929 in Cavour, SD. She attended Richland School Number 1 and graduated from High School. Edith worked as a bookkeeper for Sears Roebuck and CO. in Huron and Dave Cooks Sporting Goods in Denver, CO. Edith also worked as a state auditor in Pierre, SD before moving back to Huron where she finished her career as the bookkeeper for Glenn's OK Tire. She also worked for Aflac for seven years.
Edith married Kenneth Voss in 1948 in Cavour, SD.
Edith was a member of the American Lutheran Church. Edith was very talented at crocheting and sewing and continued to sew and crochet table runners until her illness forced her to stop. Edith enjoyed cooking and doing word puzzles. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared in Edith's life are her son, Roger Voss of Columbia, SC; two daughters: Jeanne (Jack) Hartman of Huron, SD and Jeri (Daniel) Patient of Huron, SD; eight grandchildren: Val (Craig) Walton, Billie Jo (Jamie) Hines, Ryan Patient, Travis ( fiancé Haley Luke) Patient, Erica Voss, Heather Voss, Chrissie Voss, and Kenny Voss; eight great-grandchildren: Austin Weber, Kayanah Peterson-Patient, Braxton and Dylan Hines, Serena and Jack Walton, and Markus and Mikael Luke; four great-great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; and two brothers, Lawrence (Donna) and Melvin Eckmann; brother-in-law, Clifford (Ruby) Voss; and several aunts and uncles.
