Edgar "Ace" Pryor, age 86, of Huron died Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Huron Regional Medical Center.
His memorial service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home 50 7th St. SE in Huron.
Edgar "Ace" Allan Pryor was born September 29, 1924 in Pittsfield, MA.
Ace was a Tank Commander in the 1st Army, 3rd Armored Unit, during World War II. He stormed Omaha Beach during D Day. While in the U.S. Army, Ace was awarded numerous medals, including the Purple Heart and Silver Star.
Ace earned his nickname at age 16 when he mastered the skills of driving a motorcycle and flying a plane before learning to drive a car. He loved parachuting, Golden Gloves boxing, riding motorcycles, racing midget cars, fishing, and being outdoors. He was a people person with a great sense of humor. Strangers were merely friends he had not yet met.
Ace is survived by his wife of 18 years, Pat Pryor of Huron; sister, Winnie; son, Fred Pryor of FL; daughter, Christine Fox of FL; step-daughter, Lisa Tobias of Huron; granddaughters Christine, Beca, and Sadonni; step-granddaughters, Amber and Lia; step-grandsons, William and Trisdon; 9 great grand children.
Ace was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dolly; daughter, Doris; 1st wife, Mavis
Heaven is now a livelier place. Ace was one of a kind and will be irreplaceably missed.
