Edgar J. Niece, age 88, of 1345 Michigan Ave SW, Huron and formerly of Pierre died Sunday, July 1, 2007 at the Huron Nursing Home. His Private Family Prayer Service will be held at a future date with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Edgar Jurdon Niece was born on December 2, 1918, to Green and Eldora (Pricket) Niece at Beaver, TX. Edgar farmed all his life and in 1947, he moved to Pierre and bought land to farm. He was one of the farmers involved with the Gray Goose Irrigation Project north of Pierre. On February 15, 1975, Edgar married Anna Glanzer West at Huron. They lived in Pierre until his retirement in 1996 when they moved to Huron. He was a member of the Shriners and Masonic Lodge in Pierre. He loved to watch basketball and attended many Kansas college basketball games. He is survived by his wife Anna of Huron; 1 step-son, Ron (Kathy) West of Huron; 2 step-granddaughters, Melissa (Rob) Baurth of Alpena and Natalie (Brad) Micheel of Brookings; 2 step-great grandchildren, Jaycee Baurth and Gabriella Micheel; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
