Earl Pevestorf, age 88, of Huron, formerly of Wessington, died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at SunQuest Healthcare Center.
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 24, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with burial at Wessington Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with family present from 6-8 p.m.; or Monday morning one hour prior to the service.
Earl Arnold Pevestorf, son of William and Dora (Bassler) Pevestorf, was born on February 21, 1922, in Princeton, MN. He received his education in the area and lived on the family farm until his early 20s. At that time he moved to Duluth. MN, where he worked for many years as a fireman aboard iron ore ships on Lake Superior.
He moved to the Wolsey/Highmore area where he farmed for 6 years. He then returned to Duluth and the iron ore ships for several more years. Following that he moved to Lebanon, SD, then to Huron. In June of 2004 he became a resident of StoneyBrook Suites in Huron, and in April 02 2005 at SunQuest Healthcare Center.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church in Harrold, Wolsey, and presently at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron. He enjoyed fishing and traveling.
He is survived by 2 brothers, Harold (Betty) Pevestorf of Wessington, and Leonard (Joyce) Pevestorf of Huron; 1 sister-in-law, Carol Pevestorf of Huron; several nieces, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Howard Pevestorf, Ronald Pevestorf, and Floyd Pevestorf; 1 sister-in-law, Annie Pevestorf; and 1 nephew, Duane Pevestorf.
