Earl Leslie (Les) Mosier was born on November 4, 1928 to Arthur Lloyd and Vera Mae (McKelvey) in Wessington, South Dakota. Earl was largely raised on a farm near Wessington. His family moved to Vancouver, WA during WW II, where Earl attended one year of school. After returning to Wessington, Earl finished eighth grade in Whiteside Township, and attended Wessington High School for one year. Earl then worked on the family farm and at his father's repair shop, Mosier Garage, in Wolsey. He joined the Army in April 1952, and served in Korea, working in the motor pool. He received his honorable discharge in April 1954, and returned to farming. Earl married Pearl Sorenson in Huron on March 15, 1955. They lived and worked the Mosier family farm west of Wolsey until November 1956, when they moved to Huron. Their union was blessed with a son, Donald Earl Mosier, in July 1956. While in Huron, Earl worked at the Huron Dry Cleaners and at Firestone as a brake technician. In 1959, they moved to Wolsey, where they built a new house in 1963. While in Wolsey, Earl took over operation of the Mosier Garage, a general repair and welding shop. During the years 1964 through 1969, Earl was employed periodically as a welder on a traveling tank construction crew. During this period, the family lived in Moorcroft, WY, Jamestown, ND, Pampa, TX, Lake Charles, LA, Artesia, NM, Billings MT, and Minot, ND. Earl and Pearl moved to a house south of Huron in May 1992. Earl continued to operate Mosier Garage on reduced hours until October 2001. In May of 2006, they moved into a condominium in Huron. Both in Wolsey and in Huron, Earl had a large garden, growing corn, tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, and zucchini. He was also an avid pheasant hunter and enjoyed entertaining himself and others by playing the piano. After Pearl died, Earl married Alma McKelvey on October 17, 2008. They lived in Aberdeen. Earl is survived by his wife Alma; son Donald (Carol) Mosier of Cedar Rapids IA; two grandchildren: Carissa (Lucas) Gillmore of Hannibal MO and Danielle Mosier of Cedar Rapids IA; a brother Lauren (Lila) Mosier, and two great grandchildren, Keegan and Gavin Gillmore.
