Dwight A. Stevens, age 75, of 375 Dakota Ave. S, Huron, SD, died on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, August 20, at the Welter Funeral Home, with military rites by the Huron Veterans Council. Burial will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m., at the funeral home in Huron with the family present from 12 p.m.until the time of the service on Thursday.
Dwight A. Stevens, the son of Paul and Thelma (Stoddard) Stevens, was born on September 16, 1933, in Sioux Falls, SD. He attended local schools and received his GED before entering the military. Dwight also received a Degree from the School of Mines in Rapid City, SD. Dwight served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and two years in the U.S. Airforce. He was honorably discharged from both. Dwight married Annabelle Swallow on June 14, 1957. Dwight worked as a repairman for many years.
Dwight attended Calvary Baptist Church in Huron. He enjoyed fishing, video games, and playing cards.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Annabelle; 4 sons, Charles, Robert (Tiffany), and David Stevens all of Seattle, WA, and Sam Stevens of Circle Pines, MN now serving in Bagdad, Iraq; 2 daughters, Sandra (John) Doty, of Seattle, WA, and Thelma Stevens of Las Vegas, NV ; and 9 grandchildren.
Dwight was preceded by his parents, and his brother Robert.
