Douglas E. Minske, age 65, of Huron, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at his home in Huron. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 2 PM at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron.

Douglas Earl Minske was born on January 4, 1956 to parents Eldon Earl and Evonne Marie (Timperley) Minske in Pineville, Louisiana. After his father's military discharge, the family moved to Huron in 1958. Doug attended St. Martin's Catholic School and Huron High School, graduating in 1974. During his high school years and for a time after school, Doug enjoyed racing dirt bikes. He raced hill-climb and flat track in many different tracks, including Sturgis.

Doug married Jody L. Friese in Huron on May 6, 1978. Doug worked for the City of Huron, operated his own pest control business, at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home as the plant operations supervisor, and at Dakota Provisions at the water treatment plant and parts department before retiring.

In his free time, Doug loved to spend time with his best friends-his Alaskan Malamute dogs, Juno and Kumo. Many people knew Doug by his dogs! He loved to go boating on lakes. He cheered for the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola products. Doug also enjoyed photography. Doug was the strong silent type with many friends and who liked to have fun.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eldon Minske; his brother, Kevin Minske; his grandparents; his parents-in-law, Don and Joyl Friese; and his special companion, Juno.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife Jody Minske of Huron; his mother, Evonne Minske of Huron; his uncle, Ron (Barbara) Timperley of Rapid City; his aunt, Ruth Ann Minske of Huron; sisters-in-law, Jill Minske of Huron, Jill (Jim) Mehle of Otsego, MN and brother-in-law, Todd (Diane) Friese of Sioux Falls; his nieces and nephews, Marissa Minske, Kristin (Anthony) Blaine, Derek Friese, Kassandra Friese, Jamae (Bill) Halluska, Justine (fiancé Alex Keston) Mehle, Matthew (Brittany) Mehle; and several great nieces and nephews.
