Douglas R. Marvel, age 56, of Huron, died Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Huron Regional Medical Center. His memorial service will be at 10:30 am on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Welter Funeral Home with private inurnment at Restlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Memorial visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Doug was born on August 26, 1958 in Huron to Roger and Joyce (Peterson) Marvel. He graduated from Huron High School in 1976 and attended later Lake Area Vo-Tech in Watertown. He was united in marriage to Deborah on December 31, 1986 in Mitchell. In his younger years, Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, and barbequing. Doug is survived by two sons, Matt Marvel of Bozeman, MT, and Josh (Nicole) Sammons of Windom, MN; 2 daughters, Molly (Jason) Goldammer and Annie (Austin) McKinney, both of Huron; 6 grandchildren, Kade, Kendyl, Hadley, and Haidyn Sammons, Cash Goldammer, and Ellee McKinney; 2 sisters, Pam (Mark) Luckhurst and Jill Marvel, all of Huron; his mother-in-law, Betty Holforty of Huron; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife.
