Dorothy Marie Sundberg, age 91, of 1345 Michigan Ave SW, Huron, died Thursday, January 3, 2008 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the American Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at the Welter Funeral Home or one hour prior to the service at the church Wednesday afternoon. Dorothy M. Sundberg was born Dorothy Marie Oberbeck on July 29, 1916, to Louis and Elsie (Olsen) Oberbeck at Huron. She was a lifetime resident of Huron. She graduated from Huron High School and worked for a local insurance agency. On October 20, 1938, Dorothy married Orville M. Sundberg at Huron. Orville was manager of production for Northwestern Public Service Company until retiring in 1973. Dorothy and Orville were very active members of the American Lutheran Church of Huron and the Sons of Norway. They had many close friends in Huron and enjoyed traveling together. She is survived by her two sons, Ronald (Joan Duke) Sundberg of St. Paul, MN and Gary (Linda) Sundberg of Alexandria, MN; five grandchildren, Eric Sundberg of St. Paul, MN, Jennifer (Bill) Lynn of Lexington, KY, Martin (Katie Standke) Sundberg of Berkeley, CA, Aaron (Nina) Sundberg of Oslo, Norway, and Craig (Amy) Sundberg of Inver Grove Heights, MN; and three great-grandchildren, Emma Lynn, Naomi Kempcke and Paige Lundgren. She was preceded in death by her husband Orville on December 5, 1989 and her parents.
