Dorothy A. Linette, age 90, of 1345 Michigan Ave SW, Huron, died Friday, August 8, 2008 at the SunQuest Healthcare Center. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church, Huron. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at the Welter Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. or one hour prior to the service at the church Thursday afternoon. Dorothy Linette was born Dorothy Atkinson on April 22, 1918, to Raymond and Ellen (Hamilton) Atkinson near Bonilla, SD. She graduated from Bonilla High School in 1936 and immediately trained to become a teacher. She held a Bachelors and a Masters Degree and taught in many schools, the last one being Watertown High School were she taught mathematics for 17 years. She then started a new career with the South Dakota State Employment Agency. On February 14, 1972, Dorothy married Walter Bud Linette at Bonilla. They were married for 27 years before his death on December 22, 1999. They lived in Olympia, WA before moving to Huron in 1996 where she has lived since that time. Dorothy has been an avid sports fan as she watched and discussed her beloved Twins and Vikings. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Huron and was an active volunteer in Huron. She loved to read and work crossword puzzles. She is survived by one step daughter, Linda Johnson; four grandchildren, Teri Johnson, Troy Johnson, Eric Johnson and Roxanne (Craig) Kinniman; great grandchildren; four nieces and one nephew, Vivien Wissink, Yvonne Janning, Dennis (Eileen) Atkinson, Cheryl Robinett, Colleen Mills; several great nieces and nephews, Andy (Naoko) Wissink, Scott (Beth) Wissink, Ted (Lindsay) Wissink, Marty (Amy) Janning, Mark (Kim) Janning, Michelle (Neil Christopherson) Janning, Brent (Darlene) Atkinson, Brad (Jen) Atkinson, Heather May, Coby (Victoria) Robinett, Trish Siebel, Ty (Kareen) Mills, and many great great nieces and nephews; and her close friends, Julie and Steve Boomsma and their children of Wolsey. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, one sister, Eleanor DeShazer, and two brothers, Delbert and Clark Atkinson.
