Dorothy Glanzer, age 96, of Willmar, MN, formerly of Huron, SD, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in Willmar, MN. Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2015 at Welter Funeral Home with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Her visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Friday. Dorothy Rose Stahl was born May 1, 1918 on a farm near Yale, SD, to Paul J. and Anna J. (Hofer) Stahl. She attended a country school, graduated from Yale High School and attended Business College in Mitchell, SD for one year. Dorothy accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized. In August of 1945 Dorothy Stahl married Joe R. Glanzer in Pipestone, MN. She worked in different places but in 1961 she started working at St. John Regional Hospital in Central Supply as a technician. She worked there for 18 years. After she left the hospital, Dorothy and her husband went to live in Spearfish, S.D. where they helped their son Richard and Eileen run a motel. After four years they returned to Huron, S.D. and lived there until her husband Joe died on October 9, 1992. She sold her house and moved to 20th St SE but in a few months moved to 405 21st ST SE. Dorothy loved Women's Ministries and made quilts, baby blankets, and embroidered many things for the missionaries. Her heart was in missions. She was President of Dorcas Circle for many years. She loved to give things away that she made and seldom kept things for herself. She gave of herself and God has returned things many times, she believed. "You can't out give God." She taught Sunday school for many years. Grateful for having shared her life are her three sons: Richard (Eileen) from Stillwater, MN, Melvin (Gloria) from Watertown, SD and Michael (Cheryl) from Lead, SD; eight grandchildren: Melodee (Tyler) Grant, Travis (Trisha) Glanzer, Jarva (Kris) Clark, Jarvis (Jane) Glanzer, Melissa Glanzer and Stacy Glanzer, Elise (Dusty) Hess, and Evan Glanzer; and eleven great-grandchildren: Jacob and Alex Grant, Ethan and Kaleb Clark, Tori, Ty and Tate Glanzer, Sawyer, Charlotte and Sadie Glanzer, and Joel Hess. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph in 1992; four sisters: Anna Mencke, Agnes Waldner, Barbara Gross and Mary Stahl; and two brothers, Jake and Joe Stahl. Memorials may be made in Dorothy's name to the Assembly of God Church in Huron, SD.
