Dorothy Evans, age 95, of 870 11th St. SW, Huron, SD, died Thursday, October 15, 2009, at her home.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 19, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with burial at Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.
Dorothy Evans was born Dorothy Katherine Ketelsen, daughter of George and Anna (Carson) Ketelsen, on September 1, 1914, in Huron, SD. She grew up and attended school in Huron.
On February 3, 1935, Dorothy married Jesse V. Evans in Huron. The couple made their home in San Diego, CA, for 13 years, where Dorothy worked for Consolidated Aircraft Company making airplanes during World War II. In 1955, they moved to Commerce City, CO, where they lived for 24 years. After Dorothy and Jesse retired in 1979, they moved to Huron.
She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church; and the Degree of Honor.
Her many interests included crocheting, cooking, baking, a love for all animals, and was a devoted fan of the Denver Broncos.
She is survived by 1 son, Mitchell Evans of Huron; 3 grandchildren, Angela Evans, Kristi Evans, and Jesse Evans; 2 great grandchildren, Connor Evans, and Hannah Evans; 2 sister-in-laws, Luella Ketelsen of Denver, Co, and Ruth Ketelsen of Cheyenne,WY; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jesse on December 31, 1990; 5 siblings and their spouses, Walter (Catherine) Ketelsen, Bertha Ketelsen, Martha (Chase) Stephens, Irwin Ketelsen, and Lester Ketelsen.
