Dorothy Curr, age 85, of Huron, SD, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron. Her funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at American Lutheran Church with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. at American Lutheran Church with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m.; or Tuesday afternoon one hour prior to the service at the church. Dorothy Curr was born Dorothy Mae Clement, daughter of Arthur and Helen (Miessner) Clement, on August 28, 1925, at Huron, SD. At the time of her birth the family was living in Miller, SD, where she grew up and attended schools, graduating from Miller High School in 1943. She then attended college in Aberdeen. On November 23, 1945, Dorothy married Donald Curr in Miller, SD. She worked as a baker while living in Miller; taught elementary school in Brown County; and owned and operated Curr Lockers & Café. She was a member of American Lutheran Church and past treasurer and parish council member; and a Girl Scout leader. She is survived by 3 children, Carolyn (Philip) Giordano of Brockton, MA, Dan (Donna) Curr of Scenic, SD, and Ronald (Kathy) Curr of Huron, SD; 8 grandchildren, Robert (Tracey) Giordano, Christopher (Christina) Giordano, Dustin Curr, Holly Gittings, Lacey Curr, Rowdy Curr, Brian Curr, and Christy (Josh) Vangsness; 6 great grandchildren; 3 nephews, Larry (Kathy) Turner, Tony (Rickie) Turner, and Todd (Amy) Turner; 1 grand niece, Faith Turner. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald on September 25, 1993; 1 sister, Beverly Turner.
