Doris Snow, age 90, of Belle Fourche, and formerly of Huron, died Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at the Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care Center. Her funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 28, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Fr. Joe Holzhauser officiating. Burial will be at St. Martin Cemetery. Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the mass at the church Saturday morning. There will be a Rosary at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials may be directed to Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care Center or to the charity of your choice. Doris Snow was born Doris L. OConnor on February 15, 1915, to John and Ella (Colvin) OConnor at rural Powell, SD. At the age of 7 years Doris moved with her family to Dell Rapids where she attended and graduated from St. Marys Catholic School. She then attended and graduated from Columbus College in Sioux Falls with a degree in education. Doris taught school in Watertown at Immaculate Conception Catholic School for 5 years; then 2 years at the Ramona Public School. On December 30, 1949, Doris married George E. Snow in Dell Rapids. They moved to Huron where they lived their entire married life. Doris owned and operated Snows Day Care Center until her retirement in September of 1982. She moved to Belle Fourche in September, 2002. She was a past member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish (St. Martins Catholic Church), St. Martins Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America and the local chapter of P.E.O. She is survived by 3 daughters, Lynne Carlson of Laramie, WY, Mary (John) Opstedahl of Spearfish, SD, and Ann Snow of Longmont, CO; 1 sister, Rita (R.J.) Smith of Bismarck, ND; 5 grandchildren, Rick Carlson, Courtney Carlson, Beth (Bob) Burke, Adam Opstedahl, Jon Opstedahl and Mike Opstedahl; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including one special niece, Bonnie Youngerman of Huron. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George on November 24, 1997; 3 brothers, infant Paul OConnor, Francis OConnor and John OConnor.
