Doris M. Ronan, age 75, of Huron, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD surrounded by her family. Her Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 P.M., on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron. Visitation will begin at 4 PM on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Welter Funeral Home.

Doris Mae was born on July 29, 1948, in Faulkton, South Dakota to parents John and Caroline (Weiseler) Weideman. She grew up in the Orient area, attending Fairview High School where she graduated in 1966. Doris married James Ronan on June 10, 1967, in Orient. Doris and Jim made their home and raised their children in St. Lawrence, Orient and Huron, South Dakota. They also lived in Sioux Falls from 1991 to 2010 before returning to Huron.

Doris worked at Avera Hospital system for 20 years in housekeeping. She also worked at the Crossroads Hotel and was currently working at Horizon Healthcare in housekeeping.

In her free time, Doris enjoyed working in her home and yard. She loved to attend rummage sales and thrift shops. She was a farm girl at heart and enjoyed taking care of animals and tractors. She loved to spend time with her family and was a caring and loving mother and grandmother to all.

She is survived by her husband, Jim of Huron; her children, Leroy (Janet) Ronan of Frankfort, Sheila Irvine of Hatfield, MN, Sandi (Jerry) Johnson of Huron, and Daniel Ronan of Huron; 11 grandchildren, Amanda Brandt, Jeremy Schmidt, Joshua Irvine, Jordan Irvine, Samantha Irvine, Zach Gertz, Zachary Johnson, Logan Johnson, Elexus Ronan, Xander Knudson, and Kingston Ronan; 9 great-grandchildren, Reegan, Trenton, Jaxon, Kaylee Jo, Easton, Landon, Myla, Kale, and Emberly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Caroline; her sister Mildred Hansen, her brother Leo Weideman, and infant twin daughters, Mary Ann and Ann Marie Ronan.
