Doris (Murphy) Dietz, age 81, of 1635 Utah Ave. SE, Huron, died Friday, October 14, 2005, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Rev. Joe Holzhauser officiating. Burial will be at St. Martin Cemetery. Friends may call Monday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the mass at the church Tuesday morning. The family will be present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the donor?s choice. Doris Eileen Miller was born on February 24, 1924, in Huron to Ray and Irene (Hansen) Miller of Esmond, SD. She grew up on the family farm southwest of Iroquois, SD, and attended rural grade school. She graduated from Iroquois High School. After high school she attended Northwest College of Commerce and then worked for Northwestern Public Service in Huron for 7 years. On March 31, 1948, Doris married Robert Murphy. They lived in Huron, Hoopeston, IL, and Aberdeen, SD, before returning to Huron in 1964. Bob Murphy passed away on March 24, 1966. After his death, Doris worked for Norwest Bank for 22 years retiring in 1988, but continued to do part-time work there for many years. On September 6, 1975, Doris married Robert Dietz and they made their home in Huron. He died on November 13, 1992. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. She is survived by 2 daughters, Jayne (Michael) Burke of Leavenworth, KS, and Lynn (Dale) Grewing of St. Cloud, MN; 2 sons, Mark (Lynn) Murphy of Aberdeen, SD, and James (Lisa) Murphy of Sioux Falls, SD; 5 step-children, Gene (Wrenetta) Dietz of Eden Prairie, MN, Robert Dietz, Jr. of Huron, SD, Bruce Dietz of Sioux Falls, SD, Mitch (DeLynne) Dietz of Centrallia, WA, and Debbie (Rick) Gettman of Fresno, CA; 2 sisters, Betty (Don) Wiley of Rapid City, SD, and Shirley Underwood of Combined Locks, WI; 10 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; an infant daughter, Joan; and a brother, Howard Miller.
