Obituary

Doraine Wessel-Wilson, age 78, of Huron, SD, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at SunQuest Healthcare Center. Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, at American Lutheran Church with burial at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Tuesday, February 21, from 6-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service at the church. Sympathy Cards can be mailed to the family c/o: Lonny Wessel 502 3rd St. Woonsocket, SD 57385 Doraine Wilson, daughter of Wayne and Marie (Beck) Danforth, was born in an apartment on Main Street in Raymond, SD, on December 2, 1933. During her childhood years she moved with her family to the communities of Castle Rock, Co; San Francisco, CA; Vancouver, WA; Raymond, SD; rural Huron; Lead, SD; Huron; Boise, ID; and Huron. She completed her formal education at Huron High School. On December 31, 1949, Doraine married Dale Wessel in Huron. Doraine worked in the business office at Sears Roebuck Company for several years. She moved to Rapid City where she worked in the treasurer's office at the courthouse. She returned to Huron and worked as a bank teller at F&M Bank and during the same time as the desk clerk at the Marvin Hughitt Hotel. In 1991 Doraine married Robert "RC" Wilson in Pierre. She was a member of the Lutheran faith throughout her life and in Huron a member at American Lutheran Church. She enjoyed camping, fishing, rummage sales, playing dice, dogs, traveling, bowling in her early years, and just sitting outside soaking in the sun's rays. She is survived by 5 children, Lonny (Julie) Wessel of Woonsocket, Steve Wessel of Huron, Janet Wessel-Harrison of Huron, Susan Wessel-Nieffer of Huron, and Alan (Cynda) Wessel of Spearfish; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; 2 sisters, Deonne (Dave) Filipek-Jerpseth of Watertown, and Darlene (Richard) Westbrook of Denver; 1 sister-in-law, Pat Danforth of Huron; many nieces and nephews; and her dog, "Midge". She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 grandsons, Jeremy Bales and Travis Bales; and 1 brother, Donald Danforth.
