Dorace DeVries, age 77, of rural Cavour, SD, died Thursday, August 7, 2014, at her home. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, at American Lutheran Church with a 2:00 p.m. burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Monday, August 11, from 6-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home; or Tuesday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. Dorace DeVries was born Dorace LeeAnn Krutzfeldt, daughter of Herbert and Irene (Micheel) Krutzfeldt, on April 22, 1937, in Huron. The family was living in the Wolsey area at the time of her birth where Dorace attended Pleasant Valley Grade School. She then attended and graduated from Huron High School in 1955. On October 5, 1957, Dorace married Gene DeVries in Huron. The couple moved to their farm near Cavour where they have resided since their marriage. Dorace worked at Northwest Security Bank in Huron for 4 years; and the NFO Buying Station located at the southeast edge of Huron. She was a member of American Lutheran Church; 4-H member for 12 years; a 4-H leader Pearl Creek Boosters Club for 25 years, and Country Neighbors Extension club for 50 years. Her many interests included her garden, flowers, crafts, watching and helping the grandchildren with their 4H projects, and canning her garden produce and sharing it with others. She is survived by her husband, Gene of Cavour; 4 children, Vicki Vining (Robert Peterson) of Fedora, SD, Nikki (Robert) Baatz of Lester, IA, Jeff (Kimberly) DeVries of Cavour, and Tanya DeVries of Cavour; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 grand-dogs, Bo and Chase; 1 brother, Ervin (Betty) Krutzfeldt of Wolsey; and her twin sister, Dorene Eckmann of Cavour. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 daughters, Michelle DeVries and Melissa DeVries; son-in-law, Keith Vining; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Eckmann.
