Donna L. Knouse, age 87, of Huron, SD, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2020 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. A private family service was held with burial to follow at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life service will be held for Lloyd and Donna at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Welter Funeral Home with burial for Lloyd at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Visitation, with their family present, will be from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Welter Funeral Home.

Donna Louise Schley, the daughter of Marvin and Lucille (Bensley) Schley, was born on March 21, 1933 in Cavour, South Dakota.  She attended school and graduated from Iroquois high school.  Donna worked at Tschetter Hohm Clinic for 25 years as a surgical assistant. She also sold Avon for years. She married Lloyd Knouse in Chaska, Minnesota on September 25, 1952.

Donna was a member of the First United Methodist church in Huron, where she helped with the weekly church mailings for many years. Donna loved to sew, craft, and paint. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially tending to her yard and flowers. She was an animal lover, especially her dogs. She and Lloyd loved to travel and enjoyed yearly family vacations every July all throughout the U.S. Playing piano by ear was a talent Donna possessed.  Donna and Lloyd held a weekly Friday night card game with dear friends Arnie and Clara Pedersen for years. The most important job Donna held was that of a mother. She kept the peace with her children with her "deadly slipper!" She was very compassionate towards others and never said a bad thing about anyone.

Grateful for having shared in Donna's life are her husband, Lloyd of Huron, SD; her children, Lynne (Gary) Marshall, Larae Johnsen, and Derek (Rose) Knouse all of Huron; 8 grandchildren, Heidi (Allen) Harris of Mountain Home, ID, Lori (Terry) Wieting of Huron, Jayme Marshall of Sioux Falls, Casey (Sarah) Knouse of Huron, Rachel (Matt) Johnson of Oak Grove, MN, Jodi Marshall of Huron, Shane (Donna) Johnsen of Wessington, and Kyle (Chelsey) Knouse of Huron; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Jensen of De Smet and brother, Duane (Burdean) Schley of Keystone; and many nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Darrell Lee in infancy and Dennis Knouse; daughter-in-law, Shirley Knouse; grandsons, Tory Boomsma and Travis Knouse; great-granddaughter Arizona Johnsen; brother Delbert Schley, and sister Phyllis Schley.
