Donald "Woody" Foster Woodruff, age 81, of Huron, SD, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. His funeral Service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday July 6, 2012 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, SD, with burial at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Huron and Military Honors by the Huron Veterans Council. His Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Thursday July 5, at the Welter Funeral Home; or Friday afternoon one hour prior to the service. Donald F. "Woody" Woodruff, the son of Hugh Carlton and Jennie (Atkinson) Woodruff, was born on December 1, 1930 in Wessington Springs, SD. Woody attended school and graduated from Wessington Springs. Woody served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Japan during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on March 10, 1954. Woody married Sandra Sampson on February 15, 1969 in Mitchell, SD. Woody was a bridge inspector for the South Dakota State Highway Department and worked for Duane Eilers Bridge Construction. Woody worked for the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Shop in Huron, and Hurd Alignmment for many years. He also worked at Coborns Grocery Store. Woody was a member of the Prairie Rambler's Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, listening to Bluegrass Music, and spending time with his family and friends. Grateful for having shared in Woody's life are his wife, Sandy of Huron, SD; son, Cliff (Amy) Woodruff of Brooklyn Park, MN; daughter, Tanya Woodruff of Huron, SD; two grandchildren, Braeden and Morgan Woodruff; sister-in-law, Veronica "Ronnie" Woodruff of Mitchell, SD; and several nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers in infancy; and brothers, Robert and Henry Woodruff.
