Obituary

Donald Lundgren, age 77, of 1225 Ohio Ave SW, Huron died Sunday, October 28, 2007 at his home. His funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 3rd at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Terry Anderson officiating. Burial will be at St. Martin Cemetery with Military Rites by the Huron Veterans Council. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at the Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 5:30 to 7:00 PM or one hour prior to the Mass at the church Saturday morning. There will be a Scripture Service at 5:30 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. Donald Lundgren was born February 8, 1930, to Frank and Mildred (Holm) Lundgren in Huron. He graduated from Huron High School in 1949; attended Huron College; served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955, during which time he served a tour of duty in Alaska during the Korean War. On June 24, 1961 Donald married Dorothy M. Pollock at St. Martins Church at Huron. He received electrical training through the Wahpeton School of Science and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) 426; became a Journeyman electrician; worked on construction for many years living in Sioux Falls, Pierre (Oahe Dam) and Worthington, MN; was employed as an electrician by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Pickstown and Ft. Thompson in SD; and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Yellowtail Dam, Montana. He retired from the City of Huron in 1991. Don was a member of the American Legion since 1958, Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). He was an avid fan of both the New York Yankees and NFL football and enjoyed his children and grandchildrens activities, home projects, jigsaw puzzles, and reading. He is survived by his wife Dorothy of Huron; one son, Robert (Debi) Lundgren of Bismarck, ND; two daughters, Vicki (Allen) Conn of Mina, SD, and Julie (Mark) Pomerico of Huron; six grandchildren; one great grandson; two sisters, Maxine (Wilbert) Zwansiger and Arlys (James) Delvaux both of Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Claude, Russell, and Arthur Lundgren, and two sisters Ramona Wyant and Virginia Burrington.
