Donald L. Jorgenson, age 80, of Huron, died Thursday, February 15, 2007 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital at Aberdeen. His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 20th at the Welter Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Lafreniere officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Mausoleum with Military Rites by the Huron Veterans Council. Friends may call Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Donald L. Jorgenson was born on December 8, 1926 to Michael Carl and Esther (Bittney) Jorgensen at Huron. He attended school in Huron. He entered the United States Army and received his honorable discharge on November 27, 1946. Don married Marion Baker and they have lived in Huron since that time. He started with the railroad in 1957 and was employed with the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad for 39 years and retired in 1986. He is survived by his wife Marion of Huron; 6 children, Theresa (John) Davies of Moline, IL, Susan Halverson of Overland Park, KS, Steve (Janice) Jorgenson of Norwood, MN, Catherine (Robert) Libbey of Boise, ID, Lisa (Scott) Sargent of Huron, and Gregory Jorgenson of Quinlan, TX; 14 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; 1 sister, Delores (Ellis) Anderson of Paso Robles, CA; and 9 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Carl Bud Jorgensen and 2 sisters, Evelyn and Phyllis.
