Donald F. Jacob, age 85, of Huron, SD, formerly of Sacramento, CA, and Brookings, SD, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the Huron Regional Medical Center after a hard battle with cancer. He was loved and will be missed by many. Donald's wishes were to be cremated and have his cremated remains spread in Santa Rosa, CA. This will take place in the summer of 2012. Donald F. Jacob, the son of Frank and Helen Jacob, was born on September 14, 1926, in Santa Rosa, CA. He attended grade school and high school in Santa Rosa, CA. Donald met Helen Mossholder in Texas, and they later married in California. In 1998 they moved to Brookings, SD. Helen passed away in December 2004. Donald stayed in the Brookings area until 2011, when he moved to Huron, SD, with his daughter, Rita. Donald worked as a truck driver, and mechanic. He also worked maintenance for the Forum Building in California for many years. Donald enjoyed spending time with family, mechanics, gardening, excercising and riding bicycle. He also loved to ride motorcycles. Donald was especially fond of the Harley Davidson brand, and could answer any question about their motorcycles. Grateful for having shared in Donald's life are his daughter, Rita Odens of Huron, SD; 8 grandchildren: Kimberly (Eric) Odens of Bakersfield, CA, Jill (Brian) Pearson of Huron, SD, Dakota (Chandra) Larsen of Brookings, SD, Stacie Hennecke of Sacramento, CA, Dawn (Mike) Stephenson of Boscobel, WI, Charles (Tammy) Gauf of Janesville, WI, Kristy (Joe) Lofria of Crestview, FL, and Darcy (Terry) Hicks of Sterling, VA; 27 great-grandchildren: Logan, Morgan, Kelsey, Makaygan, Kasey, Hunter, Marty, Dylan, Kyle, Rylee, Wyatt, Robert John, Desiree, Kasara, Nick Lee, Nick Allen, Dakota, Samantha, Preston, Ashley, Chris, Joshua, Isaac, Samuel, Hannah, Nathan, and Daniel; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ronald Mossholder of Westby, WI; Bonnie (Ralph) of La Crosse, WI; and several nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; daughter, Pamela Stewart; step-Son, Roger Grogan; sister, Edith Christensen; grandson, Donny Bell; and many brothers- and sisters-in law.
