Obituary

Donald Dehne, age 73, of 617 Kansas Ave. SE, in Huron, died Monday, December 22, 2008, at his home.

His funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 27, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Huron with burial at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Westport, South Dakota.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m.; or Saturday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.

Donald Dwayne Dehne was born on September 25, 1935, to William H. and Rose C. (Gutenkauf) Dehne at Potter County, South Dakota. He graduated from Westport High School in 1953.

On May 4, 1957, Don married Marlene Wilson at Westport, SD. Don was employed with the government for 35 years. He worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Mobridge, Eagle Butte and Aberdeen, SD for 12 years. The Bureau of Reclamation for three years and Western Area Power Administration for 19 1/2 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. His hobbies were golf, bowling and his family. He will be remembered as a thankless servant to his family, friends and community.

He is survived by his wife Marlene of Huron; his children, Kevin (Kelly) Dehne of Huron, Kathy (Tim) Case of Fargo, ND, David (Tammy) Dehne of Shakopee, MN, Jon (Leslie) Dehne of Shakopee, MN, Lanell (Rick) Hamman of Barnesville, MN; 15 grandchildren, Kristen (Matt), Katie, Kory, Cory (Marcia), Rachell (Reggie), Roxanne (Matt), Chelsea, Cassandra, Dalton, Tyler, Christopher, Samantha, Amanda, Miranda and Alexandria; four great-grandchildren, Bridger, Maia, Delia, Lauren,; and his brothers and sisters, Geraldine (Dialo) Schmidt of Aberdeen, Jeanette (Tom) Stenger of Indianapolis, IN, Leroy (Guyna) Dehne of Westport, SD, Richard (Janice) Dehne of Hecla, SD, Celia (Tony) Vetter of Bismarck, ND and Darrell Dehne of Pierre, SD.

He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Diane Susan Dehne and Denise Lynn Dehne and his parents, William and Rose Dehne.
