Dianne L. Sammons, age 73, of Huron, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019 at SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron. Her Celebration of Life Service will be on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 6:30 PM at Welter Funeral Home with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery at a later date. Visitation with her family present will be from 5:00 PM until the time of service.

Dianne Lynn Sammons was born on May 2, 1946 to parents Donald and Lorraine (Barber) Byerly in Huron, South Dakota. Dianne graduated from Huron High School and Huron College of Commerce.

Dianne married Gaylord Sammons on July 11, 1964 in Huron. They were married for 22 years and together had three children.

Dianne worked at McKinley grade school, the VFW and the Crossroads and for Beadle County where she retired from in 2014. In her spare time, Dianne enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting and crossword puzzles. She loved being in her screened in porch and watching the birds, especially her Cardinals.  Playing with the grandchildren was always a highlight for her, as well as playing cards, dice and yard games with her family. Dianne was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Dianne was preceded in death by her parents; her infant brother David; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Grateful to have shared in her life are her children; Renee (Mark) Schleis of LeMars, IA, Daniel Sammons of Seattle, WA, and Candace (Mike) Moore of Huron; six grandchildren, Derek (Amy) Timperley, Trevor Timperley, Jayde Hein, Nikki Schleis, Mikena and Adison Moore; two great-grandchildren, Micah and Sabrina Hein; and her sister, Georgie Chancellor of Wichita, KS; and two nieces.
