Dennis E. Petersen, age 64, of Huron died Saturday, October 31, 2015 at his residence. His funeral service will be 10am on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Welter Funeral Home with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home; or one hour prior to the funeral service. Dennis E Petersen, son of Ada and Leonard Petersen. He was born March 6th, 1951 in Huron, SD. He grew up in the Huron area and attended Huron high school until the 10th grade. He was an avid mechanic and ran Petersen Auto for 28 years. He was always tinkering with something and enjoyed hunting and fishing with family. Dennis also enjoyed watching Amanda barrel race and watching Keith compete in lawnmower racing. He survived by this 6 children, Todd Petersen of Huron SD, Amy Raymer of Aberdeen, SD, Katie Voneye of Brookings,SD, Rick (Mindy) Lahay of Cedar Rapids, IA, Keith (Casie) Petersen, of Huron, SD and Amanda (Kai) Dennis of Rapid City, SD; 7 grandchildren; one brother, Glen Petersen, of Huron SD; 3 sisters Marge Walton of Clarksville, TN, Marilyn Eastvold of Grimes, IA and Carolyn Petersen of Huron SD. He is preceded in death by his loving parents Ada and Leonard Petersen; his grandparents Adolph and Katie Pieschke and GH and Hilma Petersen, aunts, uncles and one nephew.
