Delores D. West, age 88, of Huron, died, Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron. Her graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the Onida Cemetery in Onida, SD. There will be no visitation. Deloris was born on May 8, 1926 in Gettysburg, SD to Roland and Bessie (Gordon) Rilling. She was raised in Onida and graduated from Onida High School in 1945. On January 22, 1946, Deloris was united in marriage to Wendell West in Pierre. They lived in Onida until 1959 when they moved to Theodosia, MO for a short time. They returned to South Dakota in 1960 and lived in Clear Lake and Miller before retiring to Huron in 1986. Delores enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, traveling, camping, fishing, music, dancing, playing cards, board games, and writing letters. She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church in Miller and active in the womens' auxillary. She is survived by two sons; Robert (Sandy) West of Chamberlain and Rodney West of Colorado Springs, CO; 7 grandchildren, Matt, Allison, Derek, Denise, Mike, Rob, and Marchelle West; 4 great grandchildren; and 1 sister, Gladys (Bill) Dodge of Pierre. Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wendell on August 24, 2013; 2 sons, Dennis and Harvey West; 1 granddaughter, Jill West; 8 brothers, Richard, Albert, Robert, Clarence, Lloyd, Don, Roy, and Frank; and 2 sisters, Myrtle and Pearl.
