Delbert Berquist, age 90, of 713 Kansas Ave. NE, Huron, died Saturday, February 10, 2007, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. His funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 15, at American Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday afternoon and evening and Thursday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Thursday afternoon. Delbert Jens Berquist was born on August 4, 1916, to Albert and Edith (Wold) Berquist in rural Ree Heights, SD. When he was a young child he moved with his parents to Huron. He attended McKinley Elementary School in Huron and graduated from Huron High School in 1936. On August 14, 1938, Delbert married Marjory Suiter at Huron. He worked at Armour & Company from 1941-1978 in the cut department. Delbert was a member of the American Lutheran Church, the Huron Area Senior Center, RSVP, and past president of the AFL-CIO local chapter. His interests included hunting, fishing, bowling, camping, and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Marjory of Huron; 2 sons, Alan (Dianne) Berquist of Havre, MT, and Mark (Becky) Berquist of Huron; 1 daughter, Mardel (David) Peach of Lacey, WA; 9 grandchildren, Cindy Keim, Brett Berquist, Carrie (Todd) Bladow, Jay (AnnaLisa) Peach, Joel Peach, Katy (Brian) Skoog, Christy (Jon) Corcoran, Robin (Joe) Allegro, and Cory (Nichole) Berquist; 22 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Basil (Marie) Berquist of Huron; 1 sister, P. Evelyn Zell of Huron; and 1 brother-in-law, Darall Adams of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 infant brother; 1 sister, Ethelyn Adams; and 1 brother-in-law, Ben Zell.
