David Burchim Vining was born on October 11, 1935, to Walter and Alice Vining. Raised in Jeffers, MN, he went on to marry his true love, Beatrice (Bea) Prins, on October 2, 1955. In 1956 Dave and Bea welcomed their first son Keith Burchim, into the family, then in 1957 they welcomed their second son Kevin Brian, to make the family complete. In 1960 the couple made Huron their home, where David dedicated 40 years of hard work as a livestock hauler with Storbeck Trucking until he retired. After retiring Dave moved into Huron for a few years. Dave later moved to Hermosa, SD. Living near Custer State Park, a place that he really loved where he did his woodworking and watching wildlife in his yard.
Dave found joy while fishing, woodworking, and visiting with friends and family, often over the phone. Those who were fortunate enough to know Dave described him as a "cat with nine lives." He was known for his remarkable ability to survive serious injuries and bounce back time and time again. He was also known to tell a "few" good trucking stories as all truckers can, but with all his miles and livestock experiences he could fill a book.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Bea on October 26, 1998, and his son Keith on June 7, 1991.
He is survived by his son, Kevin (Luanne) Vining; daughter-in-law, Vicki (Robert Peterson) Vining; five grandchildren: Cody (Teresa) Vining, Dustin Vining, Cori (Jesse) Reisch, Hillary (Jeff Westendorf) Vining, and Hanna Peterson; as well as nine great-grandchildren, each of whom will carry a piece of his memory forward; and his brother, Warren Vining.
