David Sheridan, age 75, of Huron, SD, died Saturday, November 3, 2012, at SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron surrounded by his brother and sisters. His body has been cremated and his memorial service will be 7:00 pm Friday, November 9, 2012, at Welter Funeral Home with military honors provided by the Huron Veterans Council. Visitation with family present will be one hour prior to the service at Welter Funeral Home. David Francis Sheridan was born January 25, 1937, in Huron to Donald and Margaret (Smith) Sheridan. He grew up in Huron and attended Huron High School and Huron College. David was also enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 - 1957. He returned to Huron and was a police officer for the Huron Police Department prior to moving to Chicago. While in Chicago he worked for Prudential, Brunswick Corp., and General Binding. Upon retiring David returned to Huron in 2004 to be with his family. He married Theresa Niecikowski on July 12, 1959, and together they had four sons, Paul, James, Thomas, and Andrew. David is survived by four sons, Paul, Thomas, Andrew of Chicago, Illinois and James of Oregon; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, James (Bonnie) Sheridan; three sisters, Ann Sheridan, Jean (Dick) Decker, all of Huron and Kathy Schooley of Albuquerque, N. M.; along with several close nieces and nephews; and his adopted Holian family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother and father, and one nephew, Donald Carpenter.
