David L. Dennis, age 84, of Huron, died Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be at 1:30 pm on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron with burial at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7 pm on Wednesday at Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service at the church. David was born on December 29, 1930 near Hitchcock to Frank and Ethel (Fountain) Dennis. He was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron in 1987. He was an accomplished guitarist and had his own band Dave Dennis and the Ramblers who played together through the 1950's-1960's. He was united in marriage to Kathleen on November 20, 1978 in Huron. David was a lifelong farmer near Hitchcock. He enjoyed antique tractors and reading farm magazines. David was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. David is survived by his wife Kathleen of Cavour, SD; 3 sons, Gene Dennis of Huron, Kendall (Molly) Dennis of Rochester, MN, and Michael (Theresa) Dennis of Sioux Falls; 4 grandchildren, Brianna, Amber, Rodney, Carter, and 1 grandson due in August; 1 brother, Jerry Dennis of Huron; and 1 sister, Helene DeFigh of Everett, WA; 1 sister-in-law, Charleen Hofer of Huron. David was preceded by his parents and 2 brothers, Allen and Rex.
