Darren Michael Corcoran, of Aberdeen and formerly of Huron, passed away August 8, 2026 at the age of 44, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and will forever cherish his memory.

A memorial service to celebrate Darren’s life will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron. Family will be present from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

Darren was born December 3, 1981 in Huron, SD to Michael and Jean Corcoran. He attended McKinnley Elementary, Huron Middle School and Huron High School, graduating with the class of 2000. He attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD and graduated in 2004.

Darren worked at Kmart for many years, beginning in Huron during his high school years and later becoming the assistant manager at the store in Aberdeen. He relocated to Jamestown, ND to work at the store there and eventually found his way back to Aberdeen and worked at Kmart until the store closed. He was most recently employed at Ken’s Super Fair Foods in Aberdeen. Darren met a lot of people throughout the years and was always happy to help his customers and always liked to visit with them. He had such a big heart and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.

During his younger years, Darren enjoyed hunting, especially ducks. He would spend early mornings on the water when it was quiet and still, waiting for the perfect duck. He could also tell you about every different kind of duck. Who knew there were so many!

One of Darren’s greatest joys was being an uncle to his only nephew, Austin. He was so proud of him and enjoyed spoiling him at birthdays and Christmas. Austin has every Hot Wheels car imaginable, thanks to uncle Darren.

We will remember his sensitive soul, his big heart, his quiet presence and the moments when his kindness shone through. We will hold onto the good memories- the laughter, the conversations, the little things that made him who he was.

Grateful for having shared Darren’s life are his parents, Michael and Jean, of Huron, his sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Eric Sieh and his nephew, Austin, of Ipswich.

Though his time here was far too short, the memories we created with him and the love he shared will remain in our hearts forever.
