Darrell "Butch" DePauw, of Huron, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 (the day of his birth) at the age of 72 due to complications from Alzheimer's Disease.at the Minnesota State Veterans Home in Luverne, MN.
His funeral Service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, January 20 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron.
Visitation, with family present will be 5-7 pm, Thursday, January 19 at Welter Funeral Home, continuing Friday morning one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Butch grew up around Luverne, MN with his 12 siblings. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963, after his honorable discharge in 1967 he started working for Younglove Construction building feed mills. In 1968 he married Barb and they continued to travel until 1971 when they settled in Huron to raise their family.
Butch worked at Zip Feed Mills for many years and then spent his time as the
Caretaker at Saint Martins Cemetery, a job that he loved.
He was an active member of the Beadle County Sportsman's Club and a 20-year retiree of the SD Army National Guard, in which he made many friendships that he treasured.
Butch enjoyed hunting with the Wisconsin Crew, fishing, puttering around the yard, and spending time with Dylan, his favorite little sidekick.
Grateful for sharing his life are his loving wife of 48 years Barb (Paulson) DePauw; daughter Lori (Todd) Kauk; sons Troy (Tonya) DePauw and Steve Heisel. His grandchildren Dylan Eggleston, Evan and Alex Adermann, Christopher, Alison, and Whitney Kauk, Danielle Maunders; great grandchildren Brody, Jovie, Adalia, and Amiya; his brothers Dennis, Dale, Dean, Keith, Albert (Joyce), and Burdette (Maxine); sisters Carol Henderson and Sheila (Steve) Kluever; and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Lorraine (Irwin) DePauw; brother Delbert; sisters Delores Kasemodel, Marlys Engel, and Eileen Roemling; ; brothers-in-law Delmer Kasemodel, Charlie Henderson and Don Engel; sisters-in-law Carol DePauw and Dorla DePauw; and father-in-law Wallace Paulson.
Butch was a kind-hearted, loving man who will be missed by so many. RIP Butch.
