Danielle Jo Pettis, age 39 of Sioux Falls, formerly of Huron, SD, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015 at her home in Sioux Falls, SD. Her funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Riverview United Methodist Church in Huron. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, October, 16, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, with a time of sharing memories of Danielle to begin at 7:00p.m.; or visitation one hour prior to the service at the Church on Saturday. Danielle Jo Pettis, the daughter of Gregory and Phyllis (Lane) Pettis, was born on March 17, 1976 in Redwing, MN and joined her sister, Stacey. The family lived in Prescott, WI until moving to Huron in 1982. Danielle graduated from Huron High School in 1994. She also attended the Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown, SD and Si Tanka University in Huron, SD. Danielle lived in Huron and Arizona for a few years before moving to Sioux Falls, SD, where she worked in the Human Resources Department for Avera McKennan Hospital. Danielle enjoyed singing Karaoke, and dancing. She loved the outdoors especially camping and fishing with her parents. She was a fan of the Green Bay Packers. St. Patrick's Day was her favorite holiday to celebrate because it was also her birthday. Danielle never judged anyone and everyone was special in her eyes, and she would always try to bring someone in need to her home for Christmas. Danielle was known for her photogenic smile and love of pictures, along with the infamous "selfie". Danielle could light up a room with her contagious smile and infectious laugh. She will be remembered for her kind heart and fun-loving personality. Danielle was often referred to as "the life of the party". She was always quick with a hug, a trait came by honestly from the Lane Family. Danielle had a special bond with all children and they adored her. The love for her own children was by far the most important aspect of her life and she will be forever in their hearts. Grateful for having shared in Danielle's life are her two children: Kaleb Albertsen and Henlee Loof, both of Sioux Falls, SD; parents, Greg and Phyllis Pettis of Huron, SD; sister, Stacey (Monty) Thury of Watertown, SD; two nieces, Emery and Ellison Thury; one nephew, Easton Thury; maternal grandfather, Vic Lane of Augusta, WI; four aunts: Pat (Dennis) Streveler of Eau Claire, WI, Jackie Husting of Menomonie, WI, Bobbi (Fred) Winkler of Prescott, WI, and Judy (Mike) Sedahl of Altoona, WI; three uncles: John (Kathy) Lane, Aurora, CO, Dan (Patsy) Lane of Polk City, IA, and Neil McCoy of Sun City West, AZ; and many cousins. Danielle was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Lillian and Newell Pettis; maternal grandmother, Helen Lane; two aunts: Connie McCoy and Cynthia Coleman; and cousins, Amber and Andrea Eichman A memorial fund in Danielle's name has been established at Dakotaland Federal Credit Union.
