Dallas A. Palmer, 79, of Wolsey, SD, passed away peacefully in Sioux Falls on Saturday, December 30, 2023. His Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with military honors. Burial will be held at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery on Monday. Visitation will be held from 1-3 PM on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron.

Dallas was born on September 24, 1944 to Leland Hugh and Lefa Palmer (Nesfield) and is the youngest of 8 siblings. In 1963 he graduated from Hitchcock Highschool where he went on to join the US Navy following graduation. Dallas married Sandra L. Frank in 1964 in Wessington Springs, then was deployed to serve in Japan and many other countries during Vietnam. He served honorably until 1967. In 1978 Dallas and Sandy moved to Canton, where he was an engineer for Northwestern Bell and later retired in 1991. He found a new calling, to be the jack of all trades and a master at them all. They settled near Wolsey, where they began a hobby farm.

Dallas was strong-willed, humorous, and there was not a dull moment with him around. He was a practical joker, a hunter, a farmer, a trucker, a biker, and a cowboy. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leland, Elwood, Duane, and Leon Palmer; his sisters, Arlene Jockheck and Alice Cartee; and all of his siblings' spouses.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years; daughter, Crystal Palmer-Ellefson (Dennis Drehmel); son, Travis (Pam Baringer) Palmer; sister, Lois (Roger) Kouf; Grandchildren, Cody (Betsa) Ellefson, Wyatt (Flora Bella) Ellefson, Rebecca (Shawn Plaggerman) Ellefson, Mason (Emily) Palmer, and Madison Palmer; great-grandchildren, Rosalie, Ethan, Theodore, Bodhi, Levi, Dakota, Paisley, and Lucas.
