Dallas R. Hofer, 77, Hitchcock, SD died Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Huron Regional Medical Center.
Visitation for Dallas will be 5-7 pm, Sunday, June 5, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron.
Funeral Services will be at 11 am, Monday, June 6, 2016 at Prairie Bible Church, Carpenter. Interment will follow at the Prairie Bible Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the Christian Worship Hour with Pastor Salem, a favorite program of Dallas'.
Dallas was born August 24, 1938 to Paul S. and Becky (Gross) Hofer in Huron, SD. He was raised on a farm near Hitchcock, attending school at Foster Creek School in Lake Byron Township until the 8th grade. He was baptized April 21, 1957 and became a member of the Hutterthal Church (now Prairie Bible) of Carpenter.
He spent most of his life living on the same farm near Hitchcock, where he farmed with and later cared for his parents.
Dallas enjoyed farming, cutting hay, and especially feeding and caring for his cattle. Tuesdays were always spent at the sale barn, visiting and watching the cattle sale. He often enjoyed trips to the Hitchcock Cafe for a good meal and a visit with friends. He also enjoyed baseball and was always ready for a game of dominoes.
Dallas served on the township board, county weed board, Committee for the Farm Service Agency and spent over 30 years as a Hogemeyer seed dealer.
Survivors include his special family, Michael (Jena) Tschetter and their children, Dalton, Logan, Taren and Mason. Along with one aunt, numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul S. and Becky
