Dale Kropuenske, age 86, of Huron, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Huron SunQuest Healthcare Center. His funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Revillo, SD, with burial at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Revillo. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 5, from 1-7 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with family present from 5-7 p.m.; or Thursday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the church. Dale Kropuenske, son of Gustave and Letha (Gibson) Kropuenske, was born on April 7, 1926, in rural Worthing, SD. He grew up and worked on the family farm in the Worthing area until 1941 when he moved with his family to Revillo, SD, where he graduated from high school in 1944. He then farmed with his father on the family farmstead. On February 23, 1950, Dale married Elaine Maas in Revillo. They lived and farmed in Grant County, SD, for over 50 years. They moved to Huron in 1998. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Revillo. Dale was very concerned for nature and the landscape and he did his part by planting many trees wherever and whenever he could. He is survived by 2 sons, LeRoy (Carolyn) Kropuenske of Pierre, and Roger (Julie) Kropuenske of Huron; 2 grandchildren, Seth Kropuenske of Pierre, and Leah (Brian) Lappe of Pierre; 1 sister, Wanda Kropuenske of Watertown, SD; sister-in-law, Geraldine Kropuenske of Milbank, SD; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elaine on May 19, 2010; and 1 brother, Gene Kropuenske.
