Dale Nicholas Kari, age 56, of Huron, formerly of Lemmon, SD passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
Dale Nicholas Kari was born May 21, 1960 to Ted and Mary (Lesselyoung) Kari. He grew up on the family ranch south of Prairie City. He attended Endlee and Union Schools near the ranch. When Dale was 14 years old he attended Black Hills Workshop in Rapid City. There he took classes and worked in the shop making pallets and running a fork lift. Because of his epileptic seizures, he was limited in what he could do from the time he was 5 years old, but he was willing to try whatever the staff at the Workshop challenged him to do.
In 1992 Dale moved to Huron to work and live at the Center for Independence. whose Staff lovingly taught, cared for, and acted as his "family away from home".
Dale loved to listen to Country Music. He also enjoyed his shopping trips and going out to eat with his Center For Independence family.
Dale was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award for his efforts in the Step Program. Dale used his experiences to push past boundaries and limitations to achieve whatever goals the staff at Huron put before him. He was a wonderful example of overcoming whatever problems occurred in his life.
Grateful for having shared in Dale's life are his mother, Mary Kari; one brother, Ernie (Brenda) Kari, Prairie City; one sister, Lynette (Brian) Engle; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles, Peg Arneson, Connie and John Hay, and Violet and Edward Chapman.
