Dale D. Hanson, age 86, of Huron, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. His Memorial Service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by Huron Veteran's Council. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Dale Duane Hanson was born on October 24, 1934 to parents Olaf and Olive (Huwe) Hanson in Noonan, North Dakota. Dale grew up in the North Dakota area, attending many different schools, he graduated from Crookston, Minnesota High School in 1954. He then attended Lakewood Park Bible School in Devil's Lake, ND. He joined the US Army, serving in Germany from September of 1957 to June 1959.

Dale married Mercadess Strand in Minot, ND on June 22, 1967. They lived in Highmore, Wessington, Wolsey, and moved to Huron in 2011.

Dale drove semi-truck for Cenex Trucking for many years. When he retired from Cenex, he had the most seniority of all Cenex drivers in the state of South Dakota. He enjoyed attending farm shows, threshing events, and looking at farm machinery at the State Fair. He loved John Deere tractors and was proud of his John Deere toy collection. Dale always enjoyed farming and farm life.

He was a lifetime member of Assembly of God Church, attending many different locations, the latest was Restoration Church of Huron. Dale was very soft spoken and agreeable, never having a bad word to say. He was a very family orientated man and was devoted to his immediate and extended family.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mercadess of Huron; his children and grandchildren, Mardell Bowser of Medford, OR and her son, Devon Bowser; Melody (Reg) Vorwerk of Woodland Park, CO and their children, Kendra and Bayley Vorwerk; Duane (Jodi) Hanson of Huron and their children, Carter and Olivia Hanson of Huron, and Dominique Williams and Kiana Larson of Sioux Falls; Dalmer (Jenifer) Hanson of Bloomington, MN and their daughter, Abby of Bloomington, MN; and Meranda Hanson of Burnsville, MN; 2 great-grandchildren, Royce Williams and Zemira Sumner; and sister Sharon Ballweber of Springfield, MO; sisters-in-law, Judy Biffert of Halliday, ND, Arlene Anderson of Crosby, ND and brother-in-law, Corliss (Sharilee) Strand of Auburn, WA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Olaf and Olive Hanson; his sisters, Hazel Hanson and Rose in infancy; his brothers, Myron, Glen, and Eldon; one brother-in-law, Jim Ballweber; and two sisters-in-law, Luella Hanson and Inez Hanson.
