Daisy Bent McAtee, age 94, of Winston-Salem, NC, formerly of Huron, SD passed away on September 28, 2015 at her home in Winston-Salem. Her graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015 at the St. Martin Cemetery in Huron. Daisy Bent McAtee, the daughter of Edwin and Lucy Manning Bent, was born on March 20, 1921, in Redfield, SD. She attended a country grade school and graduated from Orient High School in 1939. Daisy married Edward G. McAtee on February 23, 1941. Daisy lived in New Jersey during Edward's service in World War II. Upon returning to Huron in 1946, she was employed in the medical field. Later she and Edward owned and operated the Zesto Drive-In restaurant in Huron. Daisy and Edward relocated to North Carolina in 2006. Grateful for having shared in her life are two sons; Edward M. McAtee and wife Linda of Winston-Salem, NC, and R. Patrick McAtee and wife Arlene of Brick, NJ; two granddaughters, Amy (Lou) Valente of Winston-Salem, NC, and Erin (Patrick) Peterson of Charleston, SC; five great grandchildren, Elaina, Amelia and William Valente, and Rory and Teddy Peterson; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five sisters, and two brothers.
