Curtis A. Juntunen, age 84 of Huron, formerly of Bryant, SD, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron, SD.

Cremation has taken place and at Curtis' request, no formal services will be held.

Curtis A. Juntunen, the son of Dave and Emma (Kangas) Juntunen, was born on January 12, 1933 in Bryant, SD.  Curtis attended county school in the area and graduated from Bryant High School.  Curtis was drafted into the U.S Army in June of 1954 and was honorable discharged in March of 1956.

Curtis married Kay Everson on June 23, 1956 in Bryant, SD.   The couple lived and farmed in the Bryant area until their retirement in 1979.

Curtis enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing.  He also served as County Commissioner for Hamlin County from 1973 until 1983.  Curtis and his wife of 54 years, Kay, also enjoyed 26 happy years wintering in Mesa, AZ

Grateful for having shared in Curtis' life is his son, Todd Juntunen of Huron, SD; and sister Mary Ann Wendling of Lake Norden, SD.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife Kay in 2010.
