Craig A. Thesenvitz, age 60, of Huron, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Huron Regional Medical Center. His memorial service will be 10:30 am on Thursday, February 6th at Welter Funeral Home in Huron following with military honors by the Huron Veterans Council. Memorial visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Craig A. Thesenvitz was born on February 5, 1959 in Mason City, Iowa to parents Harvey and Donna (Jeschke) Thesenvitz. He grew up in Mason City and graduated from high school there. Craig entered the United States Navy in January of 1977 and served honorably until January of 1981.

Craig married Suzanne Hotchkiss on April 16, 1983 in Alpena, South Dakota. Craig and Sue made their home in Huron where Craig owned and operated a small engine repair shop. Craig and Sue became licensed foster parents and took in many, many children throughout the years.

Craig enjoyed fishing, tinkering in the garage and mechanical work. He loved to play ball with his "granddog." Playing cards and dominoes was also a favorite pastime of Craig's. Craig loved to cook and grill his "dad" burgers. Craig found enjoyment in supporting the Shrine Circus for Huron youth. Craig enjoyed watching sports especially football.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Gerry and Arlene Hotchkiss, and his grandmother, Emma Jeschke.

He is survived by his wife Sue of Huron; sons Todd (Kim) Thesenvitz of Huron and Zach Storrs of Sioux Falls, and foster son, Hayden Toman of Watertown; one grandson, Chris Smith of Huron, and his granddog Opie; and his sister, Pam (Bob) Gatson of Colorado Springs, CO.
