Corinne Lee Hamilton, age 53, of Huron, died Sunday, June 14, 2015, at her residence. Her funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Following the funeral mass, her body will be donated to the University of South Dakota Medical School with a private inurnment of her cremated remains at a later date. Visitation with family present will be Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home; or Thursday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Center for Independence. Corinne Lee Hamilton, daughter of Louis and Louise (Skagen) Hamilton, was born on April 7, 1962, in Billings, Montana. The birth of their special daughter inspired Corinne's parents to devote many years of hard work to not only provide her with the best quality of life she could have, but also to benefit other people with special needs. Corinne lived at home in Huron until age 16, when she was moved to Redfield State Hospital. Recognizing that this was not an ideal living situation for their daughter, her parents were instrumental in starting the Huron Area Center for Independence. CFI began opening group homes in Huron, and in 1984, Corinne was able to move back to Huron and live in Lincoln House. Corinne lived in Meadowlark 2 for the past twenty years. Corinne enjoyed sitting in her recliner, listening to music, drinking milkshakes, and having her blanket fluffed. Corinne is survived by her three sisters, Andrea (Scott) Meyer of Mitchell, Melissa Tegethoff of Hutchinson, KS, and Stephanie (Dennis) Bennett of Huron; 15 nieces and nephews, and her uncle Robert (Janet) Skagen of Roundup, MT. Corinne was preceded in death by her parents, and her aunt and godmother Annette Hamilton Slimkowski of Chicago, and her Nana, Myrtle Rau Hamilton of Chicago.
