Clyde E. Willard, age 74 of Huron, SD, died on Monday, September 19, 2011, at the Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. A Memorial Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Wessington Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at the First Presbyterian Church in Wessington, SD. Clyde E. "Bear" Willard, the son of Clyde and Leota (Moore) Willard, was born on August 17, 1937, in Huron, SD. He attended school and graduated from Wessington High School. Clyde served his country in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1960 with the rank of E-5. Clyde married Nancy Palmer on April 17, 1987, in Las Vegas, NV. Clyde owned and operated his own trucking business called Willard Trucking for many years. After his retirement in 1996, Clyde began working part time for various farmers. Clyde loved horses and was an avid reader. Clyde also loved his coffee time with his many friends. Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Nancy of Huron, SD; 2 daughters, Kelly Jo (Larry) Canfield and Laura (Jim) Murray, both of Minneapolis, MN; his 4 grandchildren, Kristen, Jim Jr., Ashley, and Barbara; 2 brothers, Norm (Sharry) Willard, of Yankton, SD, and Keith (Dorothy) Willard, of Belle Fourche, SD; 2 sisters, Elva Mae (Leland) Erdahl of Albuquerque, NM, and Dorothy Ransom of Huron, SD; and several nieces and nephews. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents.
