Clinton Hornig, age 80, of rural Yale, died Thursday, May 31, 2007, at St. Marys Healthcare Center at Pierre. His funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Monday, June 4, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Jonathan Boehne officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Yale. Friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Monday afternoon. The family will be present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home with a Devotional Service at 7:00 PM. Clinton Hornig was born on July 2, 1926, to Philip and Anna (Stahl) Hornig at Huron. He grew up on a farm in Liberty Township and attended country grade school and Yale High School, graduating in 1944. He began his farming career while still in high school. On December 11, 1947, Clinton married Grace Hofer at Yale. They lived on a farm north of Yale for all their married life. This past year they lived with their daughter and son-in-law in Pierre as Clinton fought a courageous battle with cancer for a number of years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Yale and currently a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of Huron. He loved to hunt and enjoyed farming and working with his cattle. He is survived by his wife Grace of Yale; children, Rodney (Nancy) Hornig of Pierre, Judy (Larry) Coyle of Pierre, and Bill (Wenda) Hornig of Yale; 12 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; 1 brother, Rev. Juraine (Lorene) Hornig of Rapid City; 1 sister, Phyllis (Lyman) Bich of Cavour; 1 sister-in-law, Ruth Hornig of Yale; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Eugene.
