Clifford Metter, age 91, of Huron, passed away on December 6, 2019 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. His funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Iroquois with burial at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation with his family present will be from 5-7 PM on Monday, December 9, 2019 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with a prayer service to begin at 6:30 PM.

Clifford D. Metter was born on February 17, 1928 in Iroquois, SD to parents Albert and Emma (Schley) Metter. Clifford married Carolyn Vetterman in Webster, SD on December 27, 1950, to this union, 4 children were born. Clifford was a life long farmer, never missing a day of work. He loved working and straight corn rows. He served many years on the Richland Township board as well as many years on the Immanuel Lutheran Church council. Clifford loved to dance, camp (if it wasn't too far away from his chores), pheasant hunt on opening weekend, and attending the state fair. He enjoyed watching the grandkids and great-grandkids. Birthday celebrations were always important to him.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cecil Metter & Albert, Jr. Metter; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.Grateful for having shared in Clifford's life is his wife of 68 years, Carolyn of Iroquois; children, Marlys (David) Van Zee, Lorraine (Ron) Marone, Susan (Ron Teel) Brewer, and Mike (Peggy) Metter. Eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, Cori (Michael) Nelson and their children Kendyll and Harper, Ashton (Brock) Hess and their children Crew and Blaise, Brandon (Tyniah) Van Zee and their children Laken and Summer, Josh Kogel and his children Sierra and Payne and two step children, Alley and Shawn Diehl, Tenaya (Steve) Nelson and their children Jakop, Karissa, and Whitney, Mindy (Kyle) Hotchkin and their daughter Emmy, Michaela and Nichole Metter, four step grandchildren, Dave and Jody Marone and their family, Rick Marone and his family, Kristi (David) Alley and their family, Scot (Tracy) Marone and their family; one sister Margery Dubro, one brother Raymond (LaVonne) Metter,  one sister-in-law Judy Metter, and many nieces and nephews.
