Cleo B. Miller, age 89, of Huron, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the Prairie View Care Center in Woonsocket.
Her funeral service will be 11 am on Monday, December 28, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Huron with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron.
Visitation with the family present will be from 2-4 pm on Sunday at Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Cleo B. Miller was born January 18th 1926 to Ray and Edna (Spring) Burvee in Sioux City Iowa. She grew up on the farmstead north of De Smet, SD. She attended and graduated from De Smet high school. On January 18th 1947, Cleo was united in marriage to Jim Miller in Miller, SD. Cleo and James owned and operated James Miller Livestock for 35 years where she worked as the book keeper until they retired and sold the business to John Morrell & Co. in 1990. She was also a 25 year Avon representative.
Cleo took great pride in her yard and her flower gardens. She loved walks, watching birds, crossword puzzles, gin rummy, scary movies, and crocheting. Cleo was very devoted to her family. She was very involved in her children's lives and participated in their many activities which included 4H, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She treasured spending time with her grandchildren and loved inviting each of them over for sleep overs and cowboy cookies. She also crocheted an afghan for each grandchild in one of their favorite colors.
She will be dearly missed and it was an honor to have her in our lives.
Cleo is survived by Jan (KC) Paulsen of Ramsey MN, Larry Miller of Pierre SD, and Vickie (Miller) Rogers of Huron SD; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. Sister-in-law Darlene (Burvee) Schaffer of MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, son Mike, parents Ray and Edna Burvee, brother Richard Burvee, and sister Lee (Burvee) Ballard.
