Clarice I. Rounds, age 83, of Iroquois, died Friday, October 21, 2005 at the Huron Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Her memorial service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 26th at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Dale Sattgast and Rev. Christopher Ascher officiating. Burial will be at 9:30 AM Wednesday at Maplewood Cemetery at Iroquois. Friends may call after 2:00 PM Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home with the family present Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Clarice I. Rounds was born Clarice Irene Christopherson on April 22, 1922, to Landy and Anna (Karnstrom) Christopherson in Wolsey. She attended Wolsey grade school and graduated from Iroquois High School in 1940. On August 1, 1942, Clarice married Wesley F. Rounds in Raleigh, Missouri. After Wesley was discharged from the United States Army they moved to Iroquois where they lived and raised their family. In September 2005, Clarice became a resident of the Huron Nursing Home. Clarice was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iroquois from its inception until it closed in 1995. Since that time she was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron. She was a cook in the Iroquois School District for many years and she was involved in all school events. Clarice was also a member of the Bensley-Rounds American Legion Post Auxiliary in Iroquois. She enjoyed playing cards and doing ceramics. Clarice was a foster parent to many children and always welcomed family and friends into her home. She is survived by her 4 daughters, Kathleen (Darold) Verch of El Segundo, CA, Marlys (Dean) Peskey of Iroquois, Jacqueline (Robert) Zell of Keizer, OR and Susan (Russell) Dillon of Carthage; foster son, Kevin (Tammy) Peterson of Iroquois; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Elaine Kahre of Wolsey and Mary Alice Poppen of Oregon City, OR and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley Rounds on December 6, 1996, her parents, her 4 brothers, Wayne, Keith, Orville and Marcel and 1 sister, Burdette Whites. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor, love of life and family and her dedication to the Lord. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends but we all find comfort that she is with the Lord.
