Clara R. Meyers, age 79, of Huron, SD, died on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. Her funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Huron Baptist Church with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Wednesday, August 1, 2012, with family present from 7-8 pm at Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or Thursday afternoon one hour prior to service at the church. Clara Rosella Meyers was born July 28, 1933, to John M. and Clara (Lillian) Shepard at Gettysburg, South Dakota. She attended Wessington and Hitchcock public schools and then graduated from Northwest College of Commerce. She married Earl Flesner, August 3, 1953, at Laverne, Minnesota and after his death she married Eugene T. Meyers, July 18, 1986, in Galeton, Colorado. After having her daughter, Carol, she also became a foster mother to nine children. She had been employed at Ann's Cafe, Cub Lunch, Gibson's, Randall Foods, and Our Home, Inc. Clara had been an active member of the Huron Baptist Church serving in any way that she could. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, and taking care of her many, many animals. Clara was grandma to several neighbor children and friend to all that she met. Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, Eugene Meyers of Huron; one daughter Carol (Ronald) Liebnow of Huron; one foster daughter, Gloria Moncrief of Bozeman, MT; step children, Cindy (Richard) Rathjen of Huron, Rosemarie (John) Delvaux of Woonsocket, Eugene Meyers of Woonsocket, and Harold (Carla) Meyers of Dalhart, Texas; foster grandchildren, step grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, John Leroy Shepard of Mitchell, SD; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Lachele and Marty Wenzel, Steve and Lori Weber of Huron. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Earl Flesner in 1985; two sisters, Leota Newton and Leona Rhoades; and two brothers, Morris and Lloyd.
