Clara P. Frank, age 80, of Wolsey, SD, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at her home in Wolsey, SD. Her Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2012 at American Lutheran Church in Huron with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Huron. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, October 7, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with family present from 6-8 p.m. Sunday night, or one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday morning. Her prayer service will be at 7:00 p.m. Sunday night at the funeral home. Clara Frank was born Clara Pearl Cowie on December 21, 1931, to William H. and Ella Pearl (Tredway) Cowie at Huron, SD. She started school at South 22nd Street School, Huron. The family moved to Wolsey in 1939 where she attended Weeks School, Wolsey School, and Sand Creek Consolidated School. The family then moved back to Huron where Clara attended Huron Jr. High and graduated from Huron Senior High in 1949. Following graduation she was employed at Fairmont Food. She attended Northwest College of Commerce pursuing Comptometry. She worked at Armour Company as a billing clerk, Magness Livestock Market, and Farmers' Cashway until age 79 when she was diagnosed with cancer. On June 19, 1955, she was united in marriage to Clarence D. Frank. They spent their entire married life on the farm west of Wolsey. She was a member of American Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday School, the American Legion Hershman-Gordon Post #59 of Wolsey Auxiliary, the Jolly Janes and the BYY'S extension club. She enjoyed counted cross-stitching, entertaining others with her cooking and baking, sewing, attending her grandchildrens' extra-curricular activities, and Sudoku. She is survived by one sister, Lois (Orrin) Madson, Redwood Falls, MN; two sons, Roland (Sandra) Frank of Stewartville, MN, and Rodney (Rechelle) Frank of Wolsey, SD; two daughters, Danette (Danny) Peterson of Hitchcock, SD and Janelle (Randy) Barondeau of Frederick, SD; 12 grandchildren, Nathan (Kayla) Frank of Blue Earth, MN, Ryan (Sidney) Frank of Mantorville, MN, Kristi Frank of Madison, WI, Jason Peterson of Omaha, NE, Larissa Peterson of Tabor, SD,(fiancé Randy Frey), Michelle (Tim) Wasland of Vermillion, SD, Ryan Peterson of Rapid City, SD, Kelsea (Steve) Sherer of Dexter, MI, Mikayla Barondeau of Aberdeen, SD, Derek Barondeau of Frederick, SD, Stephanie Frank of Brookings, SD, and Ethan (Danielle) Frank of Wolsey, SD; two great-grandchildren, Elijah Steven Barondeau Sherer and Sierra Pearl Joyce Sherer, both of Dexter, MI; a number of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Delbert Pearson of Forestburg, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; a sister, Evelyn (Earl) Bartells; one half-sister; and two half-brothers.
